Our contributors

One of the things that makes me happiest about Nobody’s Father is the great variety of contributors we discovered. Some are professional writers (fiction and nonfiction, poets and playwrights), but many are not. They are priests, teachers, filmmakers, students and even prosthetic limb-makers. As we note in the jacket copy, “They are gay and straight, young and old. They are doting uncles and favourite babysitters, but not one of them is a father.”

And, of course, I can’t forget to mention our most well-known contributor: playwright and novelist Tomson Highway, who kindly set aside work on his second novel for a couple of weeks to write a wonderful foreword for Nobody’s Father. It’s a lovely piece that was, quite simply, the icing on the cake for us. And I’m delighted to report that in addition to being a terrific writer, Tomson is one of the sweetest, most gracious people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. Icing on the cake indeed!
